SUNDAY MIXED PAIRS GOLF

Hi Everyone,

As previously advised we are reintroducing Mixed Pairs Golf at Waitemata GC. The plan is to hold six of these throughout the year and our first event will be on Sunday 2nd March - full details are:

Format: 4BBB Stableford (18 holes)

Cost per person: $10 for 18H Members; $25 for 9-H Members; $55 for non-members (Visitors welcome)

Two-tee set-up commencing at 11.30am

Enter as a pair or individually and we will endeavour to match you up (1 man; 1 woman per pair)

Prizegiving will follow the golf - the prize fund will be the total of the entry fees received

Late entries will be accepted up to the day of play (space permitting) and the entry fee is payable on the day.

Alistair Bland

How long have you been at WGC: 7 years.

Handicap: 29.1

What got you interested in golf?: I’ve been playing golf for over 50 years.

What’s your favourite hole here and why?: The 1st, because at that point, the round hasn’t gone pear-shaped yet and I’m full of hope.

What’s the best golfing tip you’ve been given?: Course management is a critical element for a good round. Never follow up a bad shot with another bad (thoughtless) shot. Always look ahead and put yourself in the best position for the following shot.

What’s your favorite thing about WGC?: As I’ve gotten older, I needed a flat course, and WGC is perfect for that. It’s forgiving, and if you hit it straight down the middle, you avoid most of the trees.
