Hi ladies,

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and ANZAC break—and survived the wild weather! Winter golf indeed arrived overnight.

AGM Nominations – We need your vote!

From Colleen:

Having completed my 2-year term as Vice Captain, I'm stepping down—and I'm thrilled to share that Penny has kindly offered to stand for Vice Captain at this year's AGM.

But here's the thing:

We, as 9-holers, are not guaranteed a place on the committee.

If we don't vote, we may end up with two 18-hole Vice Captains, and no one at the table speaking for us.

Having a 9-hole voice has meant real wins:

  • Monetary prizes
  • More time slots on Tuesday mornings (still not enough—but we're working on it!)

So please vote online from May 1 or, if you can, come to the AGM on May 13. If you're unsure how to vote, chat with Marlies—she's happy to help.

Thanks and good luck, Penny—we all appreciate the energy you bring to the role!

Pennants Wrap-Up – We're back, baby!

What a way to finish! Our final match on April 28 at Wainui saw us beat Pupuke (last year's champs!) by just one point.

Huge congrats to Penny Elliott (7½) and Helen Holtes (6½) for their standout wins—and to Jules, Brenda, Genevieve, and Kirsten for their consistent scoring (3 or 3½ each) that clinched it for us.

The final standings for the season:

  • Wainui – 150.5
  • Whangaparaoa – 141
  • Helensville – 132
  • North Shore – 131
  • Waitemata – 128
  • Pupuke – 127.5

We came fifth, but just look how tight that was! A massive leap forward and a huge thank you to every single player—whether you hit the course or graciously stepped aside to let others shine. That's the team spirit that keeps us strong.

—Prue

Pennants Captain

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Prue for organising us all. It's a big role, and she has done it seamlessly. Also, a big thank you to everyone who has coached us newbies in the rules and quirks of Pennants play. (Penny)

Mid-Winter Christmas – Save the Date: Tuesday, June 24

Pop it in your diary now! We'll be calling for raffle basket items and any unwanted gifts. Please leave them at the office so we can get wrapping. More fun details will come soon.

Golf Rule Reminder of the Week

On the putting green, when spanning your ball for another player, line up your putter head with something in the background. That way, when you replace your ball, it goes right back where it came from—no accidental advantage!

New Member Mornings – First Tuesday of Every Month - May 6

A warm reminder that we now host New Member Mornings on the first Tuesday of every month at 9 a.m. If you’renew-ish (or still feel new), come say hi at the club café for a quick coffee and catch-up with myself. Laurie is having a fab time aborad, so just me this month!  We’ll go through the new member pack, answer any questions, and make sure you’re all set up...and if I don't know the answers, I will find out!

Here's to great golf, good friends, and staying dry out there!

Remember to book in with new people and spread the golf love in our membership; we are one of the biggest 9-hole ladies' groups on the Shore, from what I can glean, so make the most of playing with new people and learning new tips from everyone.

See you on the green,

Penny and Sheridan
