9-Hole Ladies Weekly Update

The Mid-Winter Christmas still has us smiling, despite the recent rain and soggy ground! We thank the grounds team for all their work in terrible conditions. 

A quick reminder to please return any hamper baskets you won to the office so we can prep for our next big bash…

Birthday Bash – Monday 19 August

Mark it in your diaries. It's our next celebration and we want all of you there. More details to come, but if it's anything like the last event, expect delicious food, top-notch prizes, and plenty of laughs. These really are the pinnacle of our 9-hole membership, so make sure you move commitments to come and be part of your club.

Rules Refresher – Wrap-Up

A huge thank you to those who attended the Golf Rules session at Pupuke this week! It was incredibly informative, and a brilliant handout was provided with all the key rules and reminders. I've requested a digital version and will send it via email and also post a printed copy in the changing rooms.

If another session is offered, I highly recommend going. It truly helps you play with more confidence and clarity on everything from drops to penalty shots. It will make your speed of play faster, too.

Calling All Future Pennants Players – Play & Info Afternoon

Thursday 17 July | From 3PM | 9 Holes + Q&A

We’re already planning ahead for Pennants 2026, and we want you involved. Last season, our 9-hole ladies showed great promise. This year, we’re building on that success and would love to see some fresh faces (and familiar ones!) give it a go.

We’re hosting a relaxed afternoon of:

• 9 holes of friendly matchplay alongside our 18-hole ladies
• A casual Q&A afterwards to answer all your Pennants questions

Never played Pennants before?

No worries, we’ll team you up with someone experienced and make sure it’s welcoming and supportive.

Worried you’re not good enough?

Please don’t talk yourself out of it! Matchplay is fun, strategic, and an awesome way to improve your game, meet more players, and play other beautiful courses around the region.

Even if you’re just a tiny bit curious, this is the perfect, low-pressure chance to see what it’s all about.

Just show up, give it a go, and see what Pennants is all about. We’d love to have you there

Please Repair Your Divots

A gentle reminder to repair all divots on the fairway. Here's how:

1. Find the clump of turf if it's intact, and place it back down.
2. Use your club or foot to gently press it in.
3. If the turf is shattered, use the sand buckets provided to fill the hole.
4. If on the green, use a tool to lift up the indent and tap it flat gently with your putter. 

Why does it matter? Because a well-repaired divot helps the grass regrow and keeps the course in top condition for everyone.

Committee Update

I attended the Committee Meeting last week on your behalf. The key concern raised was players booking 18-hole slots but only playing 9. This disrupts match play and leaves awkward gaps on the course. A notice has gone out in the main newsletter too.
