Graham Maples
Handicap: 29.8
How long you’ve been at WGC: About 4 years
What got you interested in golf? I’ve played since I was a teen. I started playing in Hanmer Springs at a holiday home. I learned there at the course with my family. My Dad was a big club thrower – I'm not!
What’s your favourite hole here and why? The 18th because it’s a good challenge. Especially depending on where the greenkeepers have placed the pin.
What’s the best golfing tip you’ve been given? I’ve recently picked up a tip; consider chipping a pendulum stroke. It should stop you digging in or topping the ball and make the stroke smooth.
If you could play a round with anyone who would you pick (and why)? Tommy Fleetwood – he deserves to win an event soon! Also Ryan Fox.
Where would you love to play one day, and why? Pebble Beach. It’s a scary course with difficult holes. It runs all along the coast.
Do you have a long-term personal golfing goal you’re working towards? Not really. Just to keep playing as long as I can.
What’s your favourite thing about WGC? Probably the same thing that everyone else has been saying. It’s a great course, and it’s got friendly staff. Just amazing.
