Mens Club Captain
Welcome back to golf for 2026 which we opened with the Club Opening Day which was an Ambrose Net Medal event.
Congratulations to Romaine Cian, Munday Cian, Liam Dixon and Tai Dixon on net 53 for winning this event from Hayden Smith, Alex Wells, Oliver Allen and Nigel Grantham on 55.78.
It was a fun day and thanks to the club for putting this event on and providing platters for the players afterwards.
Missed Prize Announcement
My apologies for missing an award at last week's prize giving.
The Pat O'Connor cup was won by Scott Blackwood and Dougal MacDiarmid, we will organise your winners medals shortly to present to you.
Congratulations to them and all winners from last year.
Local Rules Board
When you arrive at the club can you please all check the local rules and your card for changes that may be forced upon competitions due to weather or other things outside of our control.
Currently we are only playing clean and place through your own mown fairway and cut fringe around the green. All other areas you must play the lie.
Also out of bounds is clearly marked on the course so please do not play from these areas, specifically off 9 when playing 11 and off 1 when playing 18.
Upcoming Events and Key Events in 2026
The Bayleys Pro-Am is being held at the club on Thursday the 5th of February which is always a good event for those playing but also if you wish to come to the club and watch some amazing golf played.
Coring will take place from the 16th of March to the 18th of March, weather permitting. We will look at what reciprocal rights we may be able to obtain for members at this time and let you know.
Mens Strokeplay will take place in May with the Seniors playing 36 holes on the 2nd of May then round 3 on the 9th of May and their final round on Sunday the 10th of May.
All other grades will play round 1 on Saturday 9th of May and their second round on the 10th of May so that everyone finishes on the same date.
Matchplay for all divisions will be held on 7th, 14ths, 21st and 22nd of November so plenty of warning for all players who want to compete this year.
All competitions for the year can be found on the clubs website.
Closing
In Closing thanks to my Assistant Mens Club Captains, Nat Milnes and Kevin Carroll, and the team at the club who support us. I appreciate the passion our members have for the club and the multitude of suggestions that we receive.
I will be making a better effort in 2026 to communicate with the Men's Players through our newsletter to ensure information is distributed in a more timely manner.
We try to make the club as welcoming as possible and try to make rules that we feel are in the best interests of the majority of all our members but please understand the Mens Captain and Assistants don't run the club. If you have a specific issue then your first point of contact should be our General Manager Jamie.
Please keep this in mind when talking to myself or my Assistant Club Captains, we are more than happy to have a civil discussion with you at appropriate times but please try to remember the club is much bigger than any one individual and pick your time to have those discussions, preferably not as we are trying to tee off on the 1st.
Thank you, we appreciate your understanding of this.
