Golf Committee – Notice of Local Rule Changes

The following changes to the Local Rules will take effect starting Saturday, February 21st:

  • Hole 11 – Out of Bounds (OB) Boundary: The Out of Bounds line has been moved back, closer to the fence. The new boundary is clearly marked with white stakes. All other OB areas remain unchanged.
  • Holes 16 & 17 – Preferred Lies (Clean & Place): For balls lying in your own fairway (closely mown area) between the teeing ground and the green, you are permitted to lift, clean, and place within one club-length of the original spot.
  • Fringe/First Cut Exception: Please note that the one club-length rule does not apply to the fringe (first cut) surrounding the green. In these areas, the existing rule remains in effect: you may clean and place within 15cm (6 inches).

Regards

Carden Mulholland

Women’s Golf Update

It’s hard to believe we are already into mid-February. As usual, the summer weather has arrived just as most of us have returned to work! After a very wet January, the course is looking fantastic — a huge thank-you to Denis and his team for their hard work.

Women’s golf continues to thrive at Waitemata. It’s great to see such strong participation at Twilight on Tuesday nights. Remember, there are plenty of opportunities throughout the year outside of the women’s competitions to get involved, and I encourage you all to give them a go.

Pennants 2026

This year we have four teams entered in the Women’s Pennants competitions: three 18-hole teams (Premier, Midweek, and Weekend) and one 9-hole team. It’s incredibly encouraging to see the high number of players eager to participate this season. Best of luck to everyone involved!

Stroke Hole Changes

Late last year, alongside Golf NZ, we reviewed the stroke hole allocations for all women’s courses. These changes have now been implemented, and you may notice some significant adjustments. The most notable is on the Leander Blue tees, which were previously no different from the Royalist/Leander composite tees. Playing data will continue to be reviewed regularly to ensure the accuracy of these allocations, and minor adjustments may be made over time.

I hope you all enjoy your golf for 2026 and I am happy to engage with anyone requiring further information.

Brad qualified on Tuesday and the tournament commences today. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to Brad's skill and commitment to the game.

The entire Waitemata Golf Club community wishes Brad the very best of luck in the tournament.

Congratulations!

Owen Bradley was the winner of the Cleal Cup recently played by the Tuesday Men. He  won narrowly on a countback. The competition was Net Medal over two days.
