Pennants This Week brought to you by Team Captain Juliette

Our team travelled to Whangaparaoa on Monday to face North Shore, enjoying beautiful weather and excellent playing conditions throughout the day.

While results didn’t fall our way this round, there were several competitive games. A special mention to Rhonda in her first pennants appearance, who showed great composure and settled into the competition well.

Thank you to everyone who played and represented the club. Our next match is next Monday at Pupuke against Wainui.

The following Monday (9th March), we are hosting and will need volunteers for marshals, spotters, and baking — please let us know if you can help.

Treasurer Role – Expressions of Interest (Last Call)

This role is now vacant and so we need to fill it. The Treasurer Role would suit someone organised, comfortable handling basic finances, and keen to be involved in the running of our 9-Hole events. The role includes tracking event income and expenses, managing raffle money and reimbursements, helping organise hampers and prizes, supporting traditions such as the Gobbler competition, and working alongside the Convenors to plan each event.

Please email me directly at pennycelliott@gmail.com if you would like to put your name forward or have any questions. If more than one member expresses interest, the role will be put to a vote in the week commencing 2 March.

Open Days at Other Clubs

Invitations to upcoming Open Days at neighbouring clubs are displayed in the clubhouse. These are always a great opportunity to play new courses and represent Waitemata. Please check the noticeboard for full details and entry information or see attached here.

International Women’s Day – She Loves Golf Ambrose

Round 4 of the Simpson Western She Loves Golf Ambrose Series is here, and for 2026, it is proudly partnered with Golf NZ as part of a wider celebration of women’s golf around International Women’s Day.

The event will be held on Sunday, 15 March from 3–5pm. The aim is approximately six holes over two hours, but if your team is moving well, you are welcome to complete nine. The entry fee is $40 and includes golf, nibbles and a prize table. The format is Ambrose team scoring.

After play there will be drinks, nibbles and a celebration of women in golf. There are $500 in prizes at each event.

Registrations close on the Thursday evening prior to the event. Final details, including the draw and starting tees, will be emailed on the Thursday or Friday before play. Please wait for that communication before sending queries, as we receive a high volume of messages and want to ensure everyone receives the same information clearly and consistently.

You can register at www.golfgenius.com/ggid/iwdambrose

Membership Renewals and Subscriptions

Membership subscription invoices are due on 1 March 2026. If you have not seen your invoice, please check your Spam or Junk folder. If you still cannot locate it, email admin@waitematagolf.co.nz.

If paying by online banking, it is important that you complete the reference fields clearly using your Name, Invoice Number and Membership Number so payments can be allocated accurately. This is especially important if you are paying on behalf of someone else. If you make a mistake with your payment, please contact the admin office immediately with as much detail as possible.

Direct Debit members will automatically roll into the new membership year from 1 March 2026. A $35 administration fee is included in your invoice. If your details have not changed, no further action is required.

If you wish to resign your membership, this must be confirmed in writing to admin@waitematagolf.co.nz.

Please renew promptly and protect your place in this club. Many women are eagerly waiting for an opportunity to join; we currently have 177 women on the 9-Hole waitlist. I have received several requests to be moved up the list, with offers of wine, cakes, and car-washing bribes; however, places are allocated strictly in the order in which names were added. Please know that if you resign and later wish to return, you will go to the back of the waitlist. So protect your place in our club, play often, and be involved in our amazing club that so many are begging to be a part of!

Club Survey – Coming Next Week

Our 9-hole ladies' annual survey will be sent out next week. Please take a moment this week to think about what you would like to see improved in your 9-Hole experience, and also what you love and would like more of. Then, when the survey comes out, you will have gathered your thoughts. Your feedback genuinely helps shape the future of our club and gives YOU a voice too.

Kind regards,
Penny & Sheridan

P.S. A reminder that we are hosting Pennants on Monday, 9 March. Members’ tee times for hole play are between 7:30am and 9:06am. We will need marshals, spotters and baking support. Please contact Juliette directly if you can help. I will be making my famous Ginger Crunch…that in itself is worth coming for!

P.S.S. I played The Dunes yesterday and with all the storms they’ve had this ‘summer’ they have lost a good 135m off the end of two holes! Bye bye into the sea. Made for a tiny Par 4 now a Par 3 or 90m! So we may have drainage issues, but theirs is extreme!
