Wow, how did two weeks whip by, and I haven’t made a connection? I know, I know, you missed me! ha-ha

So let’s start with the bunkers - who went to the meeting?

Some of you have asked why the proposal for the bunker work is going to cost us individually $100 a year for 5 years when there is money in the bank of the club. Great point. I raised it with the committee and the funds in the bank are already allocated to -

  • tree removal (my handicap is saying yay)
  • continued drainage - which has been fantastic and will continue to be needed with all these 100 year rain events we get every few months now
  • tee block repairs
  • a new greenkeepers shed - apparently it is literally falling down and not protecting all the equipment we have in there
  • and replanting trees (this I feel we could bypass for the sake of our handicaps!)

There has also been discussion about doing the bunkers over 2 years or 5 years.

This will be voted on at the AGM, which will be held on Tuesday, May 26. Please attend to have your say and vote. If you can’t be in person, then there will be an option to vote online. Please be savvy on the tech or get help from someone who is so you are ready.

Other committee news

The Tee Box Project is underway and great for us - Blue Tee Boxes are being fixed first. Then Red, then White.

There is a new position on the Board coming up too - so keep your eye out if this tickles your fancy.

Pennants - the last three games of the season.

Thank you to Juliette, who captained and corralled the troops this year. It was a fast season with a game each Monday, making summer hectic for her. But she was super organised and had us all on the tee at the right time, giving away far too many to players who then tried to whomp us. BUT we held our own over the season and made the most of playing all the lovely courses of the North Shore.

Wainui March 16

We were playing against the very experienced team from Helensville who proved they could handle the hills of Wainui a little better than us. So not a win for the team, but a great day out with a few rainy holes in the middle.

Pupuke March 23

Our pennants match against Whangaparaoa at Pupuke on 23 March started well with a win of the toss… but given the hills at Pupuke, it was pretty much downhill from there — then uphill, then downhill again!

While we didn’t come away with any match wins, it was a great day out in the sunshine, and we all got a solid workout in tackling the course!

North Shore March 30

We fought well today for the last game amid some squally showers. We played the top team who took out the pennants tournament. Jo H had her pennants debut today and was the only one to win her game.

Amazing response rate - thank you everyone. We had over 25% respond. I am looking through them and will share the findings and what we will do with them over the coming weeks.
