LADIES 9-HOLE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - Week of 28 May 2026

AGM 2026 - THANK YOU

Thank you to all members who attended our 122nd Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 26 May, and to those who participated via advance voting. Before we get into the detail, a note worth sitting with. Our 9-hole ladies’ group is the second largest membership group in the club, behind only the men's 18-hole full-playing members (494). We are 208 strong. When we have votes, AGMs, and decisions being made at a club level, we need to remember the contribution we make.

Usability rates were displayed on screen during the meeting, and I was so proud to see Tuesday as the highest use day in the club at 86.2%. Go us!

The Bunker Renovation Levy was voted in by members. A $100 per member levy (juniors excluded) will commence in 2027. It received 198 votes in favour. Out of 1,502 club members, 198 votes is a modest representation. There is an extra $500 spread over 5 years sitting in this decision for most members, so if you did not vote this time, please make the effort next time the club gets members involved. Your voice counts.

Subs will increase by 10% next year, reflecting global uncertainty and the expected rise in the cost of goods.

There were some other lively points debated at the meeting, which made it genuinely fun to watch. I expected it to be dry, but it was great. Make sure you come along next year.

NORTHERN AREA 9-HOLE MEETING

I attended the Northern Area Meeting alongside Juliette, our Pennants captain. One item that came up was that our Open Day was the least attended of all the Open Days across the region. It seems Lake Road continues to keep people at bay! As a result, we will hold an Open Day only every three years or so. In the meantime, if you would like your friends to come and play throughout the year, please contact me, Brad, or the Pro Shop, and we can slot them in in lieu of an official Open Day.

RULE REMINDER OF THE WEEK

The rules of golf allow just 40 seconds per shot. That 40 seconds covers your approach to the ball, selecting a club, practice swings, cleaning and placing if the conditions allow, and taking the shot itself. If you exceed 40 seconds you can be penalised a stroke. Ouch. I would guess most of us are taking considerably longer than that, so keep it in mind out on the course.

MIDWINTER CHRISTMAS EVENT

We are looking for volunteers to make the mulled wine.  The recipe instructions and base ingredients will be provided. Having your own crock pot would be helpful  but we have 2 crock pots available to borrow if required.

If anyone has a signature Christmas Slice they would like to make for a sweet treat on the day - that would be warmly appreciated .

We would love a few Christmas Elves to set up the room on the day and create a festive vibe.
