Introducing Golf Ball Recycling

Waitemata Golf Club has partnered with Golf Ball Recycling — New Zealand's largest recycling service for used golf balls — to help keep damaged and unwanted balls out of landfill and our waterways.

Here's why it matters: golf balls aren't biodegradable and can take up to 1,000 years to break down, leaching chemicals and microplastics as they go. 

You'll now find a golf ball recycling collection bin in the breezeway. Simply drop in any old, cracked, or waterlogged balls — Golf Ball Recycling shreds them into aggregate that's given a second life in products like playground soft-fall surfacing, pavements, acoustic panels, and even outdoor furniture.

It's a small habit that makes a real difference. Thanks for helping us do our bit for a more sustainable game.

Greenkeepers Corner

Our forward tees have been seeing fantastic use lately, however as a result they are yet to fully embed and establish. Our greenkeeping team have re-sanded these areas to assist the process, and they will need a little time to settle and firm up before returning to full use — the recent wet weather has slowed things down a touch too.

We also want to take this opportunity to remind all members and guests to please be mindful of our greenkeeping staff when they are out on the course completing maintenance work. Under no circumstances should balls be hit in the direction of staff — please wait until they have moved to a safe distance before playing your shot. Our greenkeeping team work hard to keep the course in great condition for everyone and their safety is paramount.

SUNDAY MIXED PAIRS GOLF

Hi everyone,

Entries are now open for the next mixed pairs event which is  scheduled for Sunday 26th July  - full details are:

Format: Canadian Foursomes

Cost per person: $10 for members and $60 for non-members [ Visitors welcome ] - Waitemata Nine Hole members $25

The start sheet on the day will be a two tee set-up commencing at 11.30am

Enter as a pair or individually and we will endeavour to match you up. 

Prizegiving will follow the golf - the prize fund will be the total of the entry fees received. Participants must be present to receive a prize.
