Tee Markers
Around five years ago the Club introduced a multi-tee system, making all tee options available to every member and visitor across all days of the week. Alongside this change, we wanted to move away from the traditional distinction between men's and women's tees and remove any reference to colour from our tee markers — instead naming each course option to give them their own identity.
At the time, the tee markers weren't clear enough to make this work as intended. We have now addressed this with updated markers that are significantly clearer and easier to read, and we are pleased to formally announce that we are moving away from the coloured tee system entirely.
Going forward, our courses will be known by name only — Achilles, Royalist and Leander. There will be no colour references on the new markers, and we hope this change reflects a more inclusive and modern approach to the game at Waitemata. The Royalist/Leander composite course will remain available as an option, as will the Bayley's tees.
This change will come into effect from Wednesday 29th July.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Navy Golf Society for their generous contribution towards the cost of the new tee markers.
