AGM 2022

Thanks to everyone who attended the 2022 AGM on Tuesday. It was great to see so many members in attendance and to report on the challenges and successes of the past 12 months.

Welcome to our returning Board and Committee Members and the new faces who were all elected into their positions.

One of the key updates for atendees at the AGM was an opportunity to outline the work going on to address the challenges created by the Auckland Council Draft Investment Plan.

David Herbert and Gary McAlister were both in attendance and presented at a meeting of the local board, to put forward the club position on the Golf Investment Plan. NZ Golf were also in attendance and presented to the board.

We are delighted that the Local Board shared the concerns of Golf NZ and the Club that the Investment Plan was a risk to the clubs involved, there were inaccuracies within the plan, and golf was unfairly portrayed in a negative light.

For those of you interested we attach the minutes of the Devonport and Takapuna Local Board Meeting with the local board recomendations outlined in item 11.

We thank the Local Board who unanimously supported these recomendations.

Hi all,

This weekend is the Men's Strokeplay Championships. We will have the prizegiving after the completion of play on Sunday. Please remember to check the results if you think you may be near the top of the table - if scores are tied at the end of regulation play then you will need to play extra holes to determine a winner. The Seniors have already completed their first two rounds and Ross Allott currently holds a four stroke lead over Dan Burney and Campbell Johnstone.

Just a reminder about upcoming events:

Tuesday May 24th @ 6.00pm - PENNANTS review meeting. If you cannot attend but wish to have your say please email Harrison at golf@waitematagolf.co.nz

Saturday May 28th - "Club Day". This is an Ambrose event for teams of four. There will be a shotgun start at 8am for the morning field and the afternoon field will start at 12.45pm. If you play in the morning field and score well you may like to return for the prizegiving at the end of the day. We would expect to hold the prizegiving at approx 5.30pm.  If you have left it a bit late and struggling to find a team let Harrison know and he will do his best to make up teams of four.

Good luck to everyone competing in the Club Champs this weekend

Gary McAlister

Men's Club Captain
