Important Reminders for Competition Play and Club Etiquette
Dear Members,
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the high standards and spirit of community that define Waitemata Golf Club, we’d like to remind all members of a few key expectations regarding competition play, course conduct, and respect for one another and our staff.
We have over 1300 members and each member has the same rights and expectations on them based on their membership status, no one player is above others.
Competition Requirements – Playing and Submitting Cards
When entering an 18-hole competition, members are expected to complete the full round. Leaving after only 9 holes without a valid reason (such as injury, illness, or sudden emergency) compromises the integrity of the competition and is not in keeping with fair play.
?
We also remind all players that every competition card must be submitted, even if the round is incomplete or did not go as hoped. Accurate scoring and handicapping rely on full and honest participation from everyone.
Respect for Fellow Members, Staff, and the Course
Waitemata Golf Club thrives on mutual respect. We ask all members to help maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere by:
- Pacing play responsibly – Be aware of your position in the field, which is ideally just out of range of the group in front. Always be ready to play when it’s your turn. Slow play holds up everyone’s experience.
- Caring for the course – Repair pitch marks, replace divots, rake bunkers, and respect signage and course setup. Treat the course as you would your own backyard.
- Respecting staff and volunteers – Our team is here to help ensure a great experience for all members. Abuse of staff or failure to follow reasonable instructions is not acceptable and will be taken seriously.
Consequences of Misconduct
We recognise that most members consistently uphold the values of our Club. However, in cases where these expectations are not met, the Club may take appropriate action, including:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Manual adjustments to Handicaps for consistent non submission of score cards
- Disqualification from competitions
- Suspension of playing privileges for repeated or serious breaches
These measures are not taken lightly and are always aimed at preserving the enjoyment, fairness, and safety of our community.
Monitoring
While we don’t want our club to be burdened down with rules The Golf Committee have asked that these items above are monitored to ensure fairness and equality for all members of the club.
We appreciate your support in upholding the culture and standards that make Waitemata Golf Club a club to be proud of. Thank you for doing your part.
Warm regards,
The Golf Committee
