Greenkeeper's Corner
As we move through the winter months and course growth slows, our focus shifts to keeping the course as dry and playable as possible. This includes sanding worn or muddy areas, avoiding mowing in particularly wet sections, and roping off high-traffic areas to protect the turf from excessive wear.
On that note, I would like to remind members that the ropes are in place for a reason. Unfortunately, we continue to see some ropes being moved so that shortcuts can be taken around the course. These protected areas can quickly become muddy and damaged if they are not respected. We ask all members to please leave ropes in place and use the designated pathways provided.
To those members who consistently walk around the protected areas and respect the ropes, thank you. Your cooperation helps us preserve the course for everyone's enjoyment. To those who continue to move the ropes for their own convenience, you should be ashamed of yourselves. These actions undermine the efforts being made to protect the course and show little regard for fellow members and the volunteers who work hard to maintain it.
If we all work together, we can keep the course in the best possible condition until the warmer weather returns.
Finally, the "Dad's Army" volunteers are back on course and once again doing a wonderful job trimming hedges and maintaining our gardens. Their efforts make a significant difference to the presentation of the club, and we thank them for their ongoing hard work and dedication.
