At Waitemata Golf Club we strongly believe in community support. Our Sponsorship Partners Program has always been an excellent opportunity for us to spotlight and celebrate local businesses who understand the value of a relationship with our community.

We know that many of our members are proud business owners who enthusiastically support our club's initiatives. As we are approaching the time of year where our marketing partner, OnPar, will begin renewing our program for the next period, we want to present this opportunity to our own community before going out to the broader business community.

To understand more about how our Partner’s Program could connect your business to our golfing community, please reach out to the OnPar team at sponsor@onpar.co.nz.

Kind regards,

Jason Mirams

CLUB CAPTAINS CORNER

Hi everyone,

So tomorrow we play round 2 of the Birthday Cup and the format for this day is foursomes, otherwise known as alternate shot. The rules for this format are fairly simple - each pair take alternate shots until the ball is holed out. However, irrespective of who holes the final putt, one person will tee off on the odd numbered holes and the other partner will tee off on the even numbered holes. Playing handicaps are calculated by adding the partners playing handicaps together and then dividing by two ( numbers ending in 0.5 round up ). All competitors who played in the first round on Saturday 6th April have been pre-entered and your cards will be printed in advance. Please collect from, and then return your cards to the pro shop at the completion of your round. Entry to the scramble is optional - please confirm with the shop staff if you would like to participate in this. If you did not play in the first round but would like to try the Foursomes format then you are welcome to do so ( along with the scramble ).

Tee times - tomorrow those playing in the Birthday Cup have been booked to play in groups of six. Essentially this is the same as a group of three as there are only 3 balls in play. If you have been allocated a tee time for two people and you are only 1 minute behind a four - then obviously you both play with that group of four. ie. 7.30am - 4 names booked, 7.31am - 2 names booked - these six people play together

For those not participating in the Birthday Club the pro shop will be running a scramble for stableford and two's. Please note that the jackpot is not available to be won.

Next Saturday ( 27th April ) is round 3 and this year is 4BBB only - scramble on the day will be single stableford.

UPCOMING EVENTS

A separate communication has been sent about the Club Champs. On Saturday 25th May we have scheduled the Club Day - for those new to the club this is an ambrose teams event for members ( men and women ) only. Over the last two years we have had approx 200 members play in this and although it is played on a Saturday those members in the Off Peak category are welcome to participate.  There will be a shotgun start in the morning and then again in the afternoon. A single prizegiving is held at the end of the day. More details closer to the time.
